Near the end of 2005, Jeff Decker and I were appointed to commemorate the first-ever cross licensing venture between Elvis Presley Enterprises and Harley-Davidson. The project was spearheaded by Bruce Rossmeyer of Daytona HD and initially involved the building of 30 replica FLH Panhead motorcycles to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the king’s passing in 2007. The commemorative package included one of the numbered bikes, a bronze of Elvis on the bike and a framed canvas print of “Rock ‘N Ride”, an image of Elvis in front of the original Sun Records location in Memphis. All 30 packages are spoken for, with the last one going to Mr. Jay Leno.

Because the first painting was only available to those who bought the bike package, I proceeded to paint another piece that would put a little more emphasis on Elvis and his new mansion at Graceland. “In Tune” depicts Mr. Presley kicked back against his Black Panhead, tuning his j200 adorned with the springtime light at his beloved Graceland.

The last painting I will do of Elvis will mirror a full size monument being sculpted by the world famous Jeff Decker. My piece will give his sculpture a context and both will be unveiled Spring 2008.
