“Another 85th Anniversary work based on an early Jackpine Gypsy rider. He’s stopping to assist a stranded farm girl and her overheated pickup. When painting these pieces I start pretty loose with big brushes and then zero in to detail the important areas… I guess my question is always: how much I can leave of the original sketchy brushwork? I seem to find myself loving the “unfinished” bold strokes as opposed to the rendered out areas. A happy balance?
