“My dad had a Ford Econoline van for most of my younger years, anytime we would go on one of his trips he would load up the back with a mattress and sheets for all of us kids. I remember waking up and opening the back doors to some of the most beautiful scenery Michigan had to offer. My dad’s van was pretty basic, and I was always disappointed he didn’t have one of those Airbrushed mural, waterbed equipped customs back then.
Of course, I’ll always remember the music. I’m sorry to do this to you, but it just fits so perfectly to call this “Dream Weaver” by Gary Wright. (I’m sure you’ll have no trouble getting that song out of your head for the rest of the day). So, I just replaced the Michigan scenery with the Black Hills and imagined what was going on up in Sturgis for the 70s and 80s. I’ll have a better image once the painting is scanned. Oil on linen.”
